I have no firsthand experience but was warned away from Delnor by my doula and some other women. Was told they have a high csection rate and were unfriendly to more natural methods. All that said, I've known women who've had both vaginal and csection births there and a mix of good and bad reviews. This was probably not helpful at all.

Many docs prefer CDH for high risk due to the NICU there. I was high risk, so there was no choice. Liz Kolkay you delivered at DelNor with a doula right? Good experience?

If I wasn't high risk, I would have gone closer to home with DelNor too.

Most feedback I have heard from Delnor was not supportive of natural birth. Two friends with C sections loved their experience, but they didn't ask for visitation ASAP, weren't dead set on breastfeeding, etc.

I delivered my daughters both at Delnor. Great experiences with the staff. Both difficult births but staff was great and very accommodating.

I delivered at Delnor. They were very accommodating to my crunchy requests. They don't have a birthing tub or pool but they didn't push epidural. I pushed for 2 hours and they only began to intervene when the baby's heart rate started dropping. I was still able to deliver vaginally. They didn't push vax either.

Yes I delivered at Delnor. I had my birth plan in writing and it was honored perfectly. My doula was amazing!! This is her Facebook page...

I delivered at Delnor naturally and had no issues but I also labored at home. So I can't say what it's like if you spend a lot of time there. I delivered less than an hour after I arrived. But, I loved the staff and they were very supportive of my after birth crunch requests, delayed clamping, delayed washing, immediate skin to skin, no vaccines etc.

I had a scheduled c section so I can't speak on the labor part, but the breastfeeding support was amazing. As soon as I was stitched up I had skin to skin (within 30 minutes) time, lactation consultant within a few hours, no pacifiers, etc. I got the impression that encouraging breastfeeding is the norm.

I delivered there and was very happy. My doctors are thru Dreyer, I go to the office on north ave on stc. I'd say look up the c section rate, because I was told they were the lowest in the area. Also, they seemed very open to natural methods and had all the devices to help a mom.

I'll second that Delnor is good! I also delivered my beautiful 10.9 baby girl there. I pushed for hours, and they also did not push a C-section, but i asked for it!

I loved my experience at Delnor. Everyone was very supportive of my wishes and so nice. I was induced due to pre-eclampsia so it was a long process. They never forced anything on me. I was able to walk as much as I wanted and spent a lot of time in the shower and on the Yoga ball. They encouraged all of this because they wanted me to progress and didn't want me to have to have a c-section. After three days we meet our sweet girl and the nurses were just as great in postpartum. I cried when I left them. Haha

Delnor does not have a good reputation with the natural birth crowd mainly because there are no supportive providers there. The nurses are fabulous and it is possible to have a great experience there, but only if everything goes right to plan. As a childbirth educator who lives in Geneva, I much prefer to see my students and doula clients go to Dr Carroll at CDH if they want to stay close and have a supportive provider.

Or home birth! Or find a great midwife at Rush Copley or Oak Park or Elmhurst. I have had clients go from as far as Pingree Grove to Oak Park just to know that they were truly being supported.

I delivered at Delnor 3 months ago and had an amazing experience. They were very encouraging of natural birth and breastfeeding.
I labored at the hospital and pushed for 4.5 hours ( he was sunny side up) and not once did they suggest intervention.

I didn't have any of my kids at Delnor, (all born out of state), but always have had a great expereince with the care at Delnor! I've been hospitalized twice and have had great caring nurses!

I can't speak to Delnor's care as I've never been there, but if you're new to the area and shopping for options, I'd recommend Genesis Family Midwifery in St Charles. They perform homebirths and delivered both of my children in my bedroom. Exactly the experiences I wanted and they are truly wonderful.

Depending on where you are in Batavia... I was surprised to map it & find that CDH is maybe one minute different in drive time (depending on time of day, of course). I'm on the East side near Kirk Rd. I had just assumed Delnor was our closest hospital.
